We are proposing new affordable homes and community infrastructure for Lympsham
What is happening?

Strongvox Homes is proposing to build 50 new homes, including 40% affordable homes, at Beavers Lodge Farm, off Lympsham Road on the eastern edge of the village. Priority for new affordable homes will be given to local people with a known housing need.

The development will incorporate a safe and continuous walking route between the village and the A370 (Bridgwater Road), greatly improving pedestrian safety and links to Eastertown, Ferry Lane and Boat Lane.

Why here?

The site in question is agricultural land in a well-connected location, in close proximity to the A370 Bridgwater Road, between the settlements of Lympsham and Eastertown, within close walking distance of community facilities and amenities in the village centre.

Meeting the majority of Lympsham's recognised need for new market and affordable homes in this location will avoid any potential increase in road traffic movements through the village centre, by building homes closer to the A370.

What stage are we at?

Strongvox Homes are currently preparing a detailed planning application for the site. We are currently in pre-application discussions with Lympsham Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council to discuss issues relating to design, landscape and road and pedestrian access.

It's important that our plans match the aspirations of the local community, including the provision of affordable housing that will best meet local need in the village. We launched this website to invite the community to let us know their thoughts on our plans.

The window for comments has now closed, and we are currently finalising our planning application to be submitted to Sedgemoor District Council.

What is included?

Our proposals for the Beavers Lodge Farm site include the following key elements, which are subject to change following the outcomes of this consultation exercise:

  • 50 new homes, including 40% affordable homes for shared ownership and rent, meeting Lympsham's recognised need for 21 new affordable homes in the Parish
  • New areas of green open space, including areas of wildflower meadow
  • A new drainage system that connects to the existing 'rhynes' neighbouring the site
  • Financial contributions to local community infrastructure
How can I have my say?

This consultation closed at 5pm on 21st May 2019.

You can also have your say on Lympsham's affordable housing needs by contacting Sedgemoor District Council by email at affordable.housing@sedgemoor.gov.uk.

Where is the site?

The site is located to the west of the A370, in the eastern part of Lympsham, south of Lympsham Road. The proposed planning application boundary is highlighted with a red line on the interactive map below.
